Easter egg hunt-Alaska style

Many things in Alaska have certain unique aspects and obstacles to overcome that aren't an issue in much of the lower 48. Easter egg hunts are no exception.

Here, Colt and Justice are happily showing their loot. Behind them you can see the snow berm that measures anywhere from a few inches to more than two feet. It's great for hiding eggs if you can break through the upper crust.

I didn't realize it at the time, but this is an action shot. The young man in the right of the screen is cousin Dustin. You can see that the yard still has a bit of snow. So the hiders tend to hide the eggs where ever possible. That egg was somehow fastened to a hook, Justice managed to overlook that one, or maybe that was underlook. Some other places they were hidden: exhaust pipe, inside a bumper tube, on the snow machine track, in a hole in the snow berm, under chunks of frozen leaves...

Even the animals get in on the egg hiding. A moose tried to lay down some cover fire to confuse the kids. If you look close enough you can see a slight difference in the "moose eggs" and the slightly bluer Easter egg. On second glance it looks like someone dropped some chocolate Cadbury eggs. This might explain why they found more eggs than we hid.
"On the third day He will rise again." Luke 18:33
Happy Easter!
