Justice's bi

The first day back from vacation and this is how Justice had to entertain himself without a beach or sand. He did this several times before I caught it on tape. You can see he's guarding with his left hand and at the end he's setting up for another round.

More Hawaiian Fun

While everyone else was shopping, Colt, Justice, Grandpa Buddy and I went to a park. The kids ran off some energy, hugged a tree and had a good time. That's Waikiki Beach and Honolulu in the background.
No photo collection of Hawaii is complete with out a rainbow. That's Cathy and Chase near the water.
Did you know I love coffee? This is a coffee tree at the Kaua'i Coffee Company. It's the largest coffee farm in the U.S.
Justice eating a "sand"-wich. This is on Kaua'i and is one of our favorite beaches. It's called Anini Beach. You can see where the waves break. The water is so clear and flat. It's also off the beaten path and very uncrowded. There's a rumor that Sylvester Stallone and Pierce Brosnan have beach houses less than a mile away. We picked up hundreds of tiny seashells called Niihau shells. Locals make necklaces out of them worth hundreds to thousands of dollars. This is how Buddy and I got most of our sun, waiting on everyone else while they fed their shopping addiction. We had no complaints, just hung loose made the best of it.
Yet another exhausting day. Justice looks so comfortable. Colton...cool.

Luau!

If you go to Hawaii, you should go to a luau. We had so much fun. The kids loved the show, especially the fire dancer! There's lots of great Hawaiian food too, including POI! (sound like boy, tastes like pooh). Just kidding, it wasn't that bad, Cathy says it tastes like bland mashed potatoes. We put a little on every ones plate and they ate all of it. I actually got seconds of it.
We all took pictures with the hula dancers. Chase is the only one who grabbed on. It looks like she's cupping a coconut, but she's actually giving the hang loose sign. He's hanging tight.
This guy is the fire dancer. He gave Colt the grass necklace. We think it's because they have the same build. It was an awesome show.
I don't know what is going through Meg's mind. Justice loves the hula girls lips. They're red he says.
While the food and show were being prepared, they drew tattoos for the kids. Colt and Justice were pretty happy with theirs.

Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor

This was taken while we were waiting for the boat to the Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor. You can just see it beside Justice's head. The only cost to go to the memorial is your time while you wait. The Navy runs the shuttle.
This is the base of a gun turret.
This is the view of the memorial from the entrance. What is not captured is the solemn silence. When you read some of the information here and in the museum, it can get quite emotional. This is the final resting place of hundreds of servicemen because the ship went down so fast. It sank in less than nine minutes after the forward ammunition magazine was struck by a bomb. Since 1982, thirty survivors have been interred here with their shipmates.
From the bottom up.
Our future.
Those who sacrificed all.
Our proud flag representing our country.
Our Heavenly Father.
That's what I see in this photo.

More of Hawaii

This picture is not here to show you how cool Justice is, nor is it to prove you can't escape Wal-mart in Hawaii. It's for the free range chickens. That's a rooster behind Justice in front of the carts. And this wasn't a rare occasion. We saw chickens everywhere on both islands. From the top of Waimea Canyon to the most crowded beach- chickens. I even saw chickens while I was grilling chicken. The story is that a typhoon years ago blew the coops over and so, they roam. A man could live here on wild fruit and chicken. It should have the fattest homeless people on earth.
Chase and Justice are digging a hole. It is one of our favorite beach activities. I don't know why, but it is so relaxing. What is not fun is when it's time to rinse all the sand off of Justice. The entire beach knows when it happens because he screams at the top of his lungs throughout the process.
This bird is a red headed cardinal. It's a lot smaller than our Kentucky cardinals but pretty just the same.
Hang Loose! These two always get along this well. Right. That's a monk seal behind them. This is at Poipu Beach on Kauai. It's one of our favorite beaches for snorkeling. We saw several varieties of fish and at least two different eels. This is also the only place we saw a seal. The sunsets here are incredible too.
Since I mentioned the sunset I decided to put one in. The seal was on the other side of the palm tree. In the water is a lava flow water break. It makes for light waves and great snorkeling. Not to mention it's cool to walk on an old lava flow.
All of this fruit was picked by a friend of ours on Kauai. The kids favorite was the harry red ones called rombatons. They didn't care for the star fruit. You probably recognize the bananas and coconut. We got the coconut ourselves from the tide.

After a long day of digging holes and chasing chickens, we crash. Chase was holding Justice's head to keep it from falling forward. Apparently it was contagious. Justice is holding a cracker in his right hand.

Edlin6 in Hawaii

Well, as you may know, we spent the new year in Hawaii and what a grand time we had. This photo was taken from the beach outside our condo on Kaua'i. It was early morning and we were still looking a little tired.

Our first 5 days were on Oahu in a beach house in Laie (pronounced lay-ee-uh). It's on the north east side of the Island. Cathy and the kids are trying to get some beach time in while it's not raining. The tide is in and it had rained recently, so the water doesn't look so great but it was most of the time, rain or not. We collected many coconuts from this shore and we got pretty good at opening them. Justice loved it. At night there was a fish feeding frenzy going on that was pretty cool to watch. No sharks, just some needle fish and hundreds of smaller fish we couldn't I.D.
This is Hanauma Bay. If you go to Oahu, it's a must. It's a volcano crater that washed into the ocean. You can see how clear the water is, the dark stuff is not sea weed, it's coral reef and fish flock to it. The waves are gentle and snorkeling can't get much better than this. This was one of the clearest days we had on this island, and it rained several times while we were here.
These two pictures were taken at the Dole plantation, also on Oahu. Colton is posing with one of many pineapple varieties they grow. It's in a whiskey barrell that was not marked as a Bluegrass Barrell. The bottom picture speaks for itself.

Every day ended similar to this: so exhausted you fall asleep crawling through the furniture. I will post more photos and stories as I can, I still have a lot of unpacking to do.
